What the 2025 championship was
SDAT and the Tamil Nadu government announced the CEGC in October 2025. It was pitched as a state-backed international esports event meant to position Tamil Nadu as an esports hub and to bring global esports leaders, officials and industry stakeholders together.
The CS2 tournament was listed as part of the Valve Regional Standings circuit and was set to feature teams from India, Southeast Asia and Europe. The BGMI event was aimed at India's top mobile esports teams.

The team count is listed as 32 on one page and 33 on another.
No CS2 leg for 2026 has been found.
No announcement from SDAT, Skyesports or the BGMI organisers has been found.
Because of this, we are not publishing a 2026 schedule, team list or prize breakdown. We will update coverage once an official source confirms the details.
Why it matters for Indian esports
State-level backing for esports events is a notable shift in India. The 2025 CEGC showed a government body running an international-format CS2 event alongside a national BGMI event, which fits the wider push covered in our look at the future of esports in India.
For BGMI fans, Team SouL's 2025 CEGC win is part of a strong run for the roster, which also took the title at BMSD 2026.
