The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2026 is officially underway, bringing India’s biggest BGMI esports tournament back with massive competition, high stakes, and top teams battling for national glory.


Organized by Krafton India Esports, BGIS serves as one of the most important Tier-1 competitive platforms in the BGMI ecosystem, offering emerging teams a pathway to elite tournaments like BMPS.


Here’s everything you need to know about BGIS 2026 - including format, schedule, prize pool, and current progress.


BGIS 2026 Overview

BGIS 2026 short for Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2026 is the fifth edition of India's premier BGMI esports circuit, organized by KRAFTON. Running under the tagline #BreakBoundaries, it is the largest and most competitive BGMI tournament of 2026, beginning with 1,024 teams in January and culminating in a Grand Finals showdown in late March.


The tournament kicks off in the League Stage on January 26, 2026, and concludes at the Grand Finals on March 27–29, 2026. With a total prize pool of ₹2,00,00,000 (₹2 Crore), BGIS 2026 is the highest-stakes domestic BGMI event of the year more than double the prize pool of BMIC 2025.


BGIS 2026 follows a multi-stage competitive structure designed to test consistency, adaptability, and teamwork across several rounds.


Main stages include:

  6. LAN Grand Finals

This layered format ensures both grassroots teams and professional rosters get a chance to compete.


BGIS 2026 Tournament Format: From 1,024 Teams to 16 Champions

BGIS 2026 uses a multi-stage elimination structure designed to give thousands of teams a genuine path to the Grand Finals. Here is how the entire journey unfolds:

BGIS 2026 Roadmap Schedule

League Stage (January 26 – March 8, 2026)

The League Stage is an extended online competition that progressively narrows the field across six distinct rounds.


Round 1 (Jan 26 – Feb 1): The tournament opens with a massive field of 1,024 teams 1,016 from in-game qualifiers and 8 from the bottom of The Grind Group D. These squads are split into 64 groups of 16, each playing 6 matches. The top 7 from every group plus the top 48 overall advance, narrowing the pool to 496 teams.


Round 2 (Feb 5–8): 512 teams compete (496 from Round 1 plus 16 from The Grind). Divided into 32 groups of 16, each team plays 6 matches. Top 7 per group and the top 16 overall advance 240 teams move to Round 3.


Round 3 (Feb 12–15): 256 teams face off across 16 groups. Each team plays 6 matches. Top 6 per group plus top 16 overall qualify, sending 112 teams to Round 4. This stage is currently live as of February 14, 2026.


Round 4 (Feb 19–22): 128 teams divided into 8 groups, 6 matches each. Top 7 per group (56 teams) reach the Quarter Finals directly. Top 8 remaining teams go to the Wildcard.


Quarter Finals (Feb 26 – Mar 1): 64 teams in 4 groups of 16, playing 6 matches each. Top 16 teams based on cumulative standings advance to the Semi Finals. Teams placed 17th–40th (24 teams) get a second chance in the Wildcard.


Wildcard (Mar 5–8): 32 teams 24 from the Quarter Finals and 8 from Round 4 compete in a round-robin format with each team playing 12 matches. Top 8 advance to the Semi Finals.


Semi Finals (March 12–15, 2026)

24 teams (16 from Quarter Finals + 8 from Wildcard) compete in a double round-robin format across 3 groups of 8 teams. Each team plays 16 matches. The top 8 teams advance to the Grand Finals, while the remaining 16 proceed to the Survival Stage.


Survival Stage (March 16–17, 2026)

16 teams get one final opportunity over 12 matches across two days. The top 8 from this stage punch their tickets to the Grand Finals, joining the 8 Semi Finals qualifiers.


Grand Finals (March 27–29, 2026)

The ultimate showdown. 16 teams 8 from the Semi Finals and 8 from the Survival Stage compete over 3 days in 18 matches (6 per day) to determine India's best BGMI squad of 2026. The Grand Finals will be held at an offline venue in India (location TBA).

Every match in BGIS 2026 uses a combined placement-plus-elimination scoring system:

Elimination Points: 1 point per kill, regardless of placement.

This system rewards both strategic gameplay and aggressive fragging teams cannot survive on chicken dinners alone if their kill count lags behind.

Teams to Watch: BGIS 2026 The Grind Results

The Grind was the seeding stage for invited teams, featuring 64 squads across 4 groups with 24 matches per group. Here are the 8 teams that secured direct Quarter Finals slots from Group A:

Notably, big names like iQOO Orangutan, GodLike Esports, and iQOO 8BIT did not make the direct Quarter Finals cut from The Grind and are competing through the main League Stage route making every remaining round even more unpredictable.
